Lars Eriksen is an urban historian from Aarhus. His books trace how European cities have handled heat, water and crowds over the last two centuries.
He leads the cooler streets project, which brings historians, engineers and planners together to test shade, trees and water on three streets in the city.
As dean he has kept the faculty’s doctoral programme small, with no more than six new candidates a year, each with two supervisors from different faculties.
