Sofia Herrera runs the materials testing hall. She studied civil engineering in Madrid and completed her doctorate on concrete made with recycled aggregates.
She leads the low-carbon concrete project, which has poured and tested more than four hundred mixes and built its first full-size pavilion on campus in 2025.
She teaches the laboratory course in the Computer Science and Data Science programmes, where students build the sensors that monitor her samples.
