Elena Navarro is a materials scientist who spent the first part of her career in industry, testing cement and steel for large infrastructure projects in Spain.
At Gerstner she has opened the faculty’s laboratories to the other faculties. Architecture students test their own materials here, and engineering students sit in on design reviews.
She supervises the low-carbon concrete project and teaches the master’s course on materials and their life cycle.
