Marco Bellini came to Gerstner from the University of Bologna, where he studied how small regions fund their schools, hospitals and transport.
He rebuilt the faculty’s bachelor around real cases. Every semester students work on a live question from a city, a cooperative or a company, and present their answer to the people who asked it.
He still teaches the first-year course in public finance, which he describes as the most useful thing an economist can learn.
